The average temperature/precipitation chart (left) shows the how warm and how moist it can get. The dry soil can be very infertile but in the south-eastern sector the soil is one of the most fertile types of soil. The climate is warm all year and there are two main seasons. There is a long dry season (winter) and a very wet season (summer). There is usually only 4 inches to rainfall during the dry season and on average there is 15-25 inches during the wet season. There is a high amount of biodiversity in this biome. There are diverse large mammals that form abundant groups. There are grazers, predators, and scavengers. Plant life is usually not too diverse but in some region it can be very diverse.

Biotic FactorsThe spotted hyena (top left) is a biotic factor in this biome. They are primarily scavengers but they have the ability and intelligence to hunt. If they do end up hunting, they target weak or isolated animals in packs. They increasingly overpopulate many areas in Africa. The spotted hyena is the largest of the three hyena species. Even though they are closer to felines genetically, they have more behaviorally similarities to canines. The have very good hearing and eyesight at night. The can also travel long distances without tiring.
Abiotic FactorsFires on the African savannas are common during the dry season. They kill off bugs and leave a feast for scavengers. This could be human cause but the environment has adapted to them. Trees and some other plants are now fire-resistant and have become the dominant plants.
